NASCAR returns to the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana

2012-03-22-nascar-fontana.jpgA full weekend of NASCAR events is on tap at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, starting on Thursday, March 22 through Sunday, March 25.

The Auto Club 400 weekend starts on Thursday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. with the welcoming Hauler Parade, as the NASCAR Team big rigs weave their way through the streets of Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Fontana.

The parade begins at Citizens Business Bank Arena at 4000 East Ontario Center Parkway in Ontario, and ends at their final destination of the Auto Club Speedway at 9300 Cherry Avenue in Fontana.  Click HERE for prime viewing areas and parade route details.

2012-03-22-nascar-hauler.jpgThe haulers will be staged at the Citizens Business Bank Arena parking lot at 5:00 p.m. for fans to take pictures before the parade starts.

Friday, March 23 will be the Drive4COPD NSCS Qualifying & Pro-Am Celebrity Racing Challenge.  Parking lots open at 8:00 a.m., with practice and qualifying throughout the day.  The final event will be the Celebrity Challenge starting at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The Drive4COPD event is to support awareness, screenings and research of COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  Pro-Am participants will attend Rusty Wallace NASCAR Racing School and then tackle 4 laps around Southern California’s premier motorsports oval behind the wheel of a stock car.

2012-03-22-nascar2.jpgThe Royal Purple 300 race is on Saturday, March 24.  Parking lots open at 7:00 a.m.  Practice and qualifying go on all morning, and the DiscoverIE FanZone gates open to ticket holders at 9:00 a.m.  A Marcos Ambrose Q&A is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m., followed by Kevin Harvick’s Walk of Fame Induction at 11:30 a.m.  The Metal Mulisha will perform Extreme Stunt Shows during the day, and the main event Royal Purple 300 NNS Race starts at 2:30 p.m.

The weekend closes out with the Auto Club 400 race day events on Sunday, March 25.  Parking lots open at 5:00 a.m. and the DiscoverIE FanZone gates open to ticket holders at 7:00 a.m.  La Santa Cecillia performs at 8:30 a.m., Driver Story Time with David Gilliland starts at 9:15 a.m., Metal Mulisha will perform Extreme Stunt Shows during the day, and a concert by rock group Night Ranger starts at 10:00 a.m.  NSCS driver introductions will start at 11:20, followed by the Auto Club 400 NSCS Race at 12:00 p.m.
