Mayor to honor InstantRiverside.com at Tuesday's council meeting

How time flies. I still can’t believe that May 4, 2010 will mark 4 years since InstantRiverside.com launched as a news organization on the internet. Since that time we have covered thousands of news stories that are truly important to people who live in Riverside. And, while we cover news for Riverside County, and our neighbors, it’s Riverside we call home.

I have been very honored by the response we have received from Riversiders. We have covered stories that help connect people to the events that are shaping our community. I know this because of the countless e-mail messages we receive each day; locally Riversiders have always known that this is a fantastic place to live, work and play. The ability to lead a news organization that celebrates this is a responsibility I don’t take lightly.

When InstantRiverside.com started the idea of local news and video on the internet was new. It was a concept some saw as a passing fad. (youtube.com launched in February 2005.) It’s my hunch that video on the internet is going to be around for a while.

Like any news organization our strongest asset is, and has been, to earn and keep the trust of Riversiders.

That’s why I’m honored to share this news with you. This Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m., after Mayor Loveridge calls the council meeting to order, the following item is first on the agenda:

1. Mayor Loveridge to present a Proclamation to InstantRiverside.com Publisher and Editor Craig Fiegener recognizing the 4th Anniversary of InstantRiverside.com.

If you’d like to attend, please do. There are plenty of seats available, and if you live in Riverside you can watch it live on Charter Cable Channel 3.

Hard to believe that it all started with a mouse. . . click.
