Leonard William Kestenbaum

Leonard William Kestenbaum age 84, passed away in the comfort of his home on March 14, 2012. Leonard was born on August 6, 1927 in Bronx, New York and was a resident of Riverside for 10 months and previously of Ontario for 26 years and Rowland Heights for 20 years.

Leonard was a Police Office for the LA County Sheriff then Sergeant for So. Pacific Railroad where he retired. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class during WWII on the U.S.S. Macon.

He was a member of Equestrian Trails, Inc. Leonard was a loving husband, wonderful dad and full of love for his family. “Pappy” and grandpa to 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. The end of Trail here on Earth, may you ride everyday in heaven. Always in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Mary E. Kestenbaum of Sun City, CA; daughters Shari (Art) Wood, Jr. of Ontario, CA, and Kim (Bill) Meltzer of Huntington Beach, CA; sons Barry (Judi) Kestenbaum of Indiana, PA and Russ (Marci) Kestenbaum of Murrieta, CA; step-daughters Sherrie Martin of Santa Paula, CA, Kelly McCants and Dawn Williams, both of Sequim, WA; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Sanuel and Helen Kestenbaum and sister Harriet Brozosky.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project. Visitation: Sunday, March 18 from 5-8pm at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside; Gravesite: Monday, March 19 at 2pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging area #7.
