floydwasman.jpgFloyd Wasmund (84) passed from this life on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his residence in San Jacinto, CA surrounded by his loving family. Floyd was born on May 30, 1927 in Harold, SD.

His family then moved to Minnesota, living in Rushmore and Worthington, where he worked in their farming business. In 1962, he settled in California, living in Bellflower, Cerritos, and Artesia until moving to the San Jacinto Valley in 1994. While living in Los Angeles County, Floyd was a partner in CVS Incorporated, a “Kiddie Ride” business, in Bellflower, CA for 27 years.

One of Floyd’s hobbies was square dancing, especially with the “Wheel and Whirl Club” in Downey, CA. In addition, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family in their many RVs over the years, going on cruises, playing cards, and doing puzzles.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Phyllis Wasmund of San Jacinto, CA; his children: Gloria (Ernie) Taylor of Surprise, AZ, Roger (Patsy) Wasmund of Bullhead City, AZ, David (Marsha) Wasmund of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; his step-daughters: Judy (Steve) Smith of Fullerton, CA, and Connie Smith of Buena Park, CA; his 11 grandchildren; his 9 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; his sister Arlene Wibbens of Worthington, MN; his brother Leroy (Geneva) Wasmund of Worthington, MN; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Irving & Elizabeth (DeVries) Wasmund; his sister Viola Meinders; and his step-son Larry Renes.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 4PM until 7PM at the Hemet Valley Mortuary. The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 23 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church of Hemet, 26089 Girard St., Hemet, CA, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will follow the reception at 2:30PM on Friday at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. www.hemetvalleymortuary.com (951) 658 - 4433
