Mary Ann Pizzuti Johnson

maryjohnson.jpgMary Ann Pizzuti Johnson 83, peacefully passed into the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ on March 22, 2012 with her family at her side. The cause of death was a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born February 6, 1929 in the Bronx, New York to Salvatore and Josephine Pizzuti.

Mary Ann graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 1952 with a master’s degree. On September 13, 1953 she married the love of her life, James Johnson. Mary Ann and Jim lived in Corona CA, for the past three years and previously in Palos Verdes Estates for over 40 years.

Mary Ann pursued careers in music and teaching. Her passion and gifted talent for opera gave her the opportunity to study and become the prodigy of Rosa Raisa and Stella Roman who were highly regarded in the opera community.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years Jim; her son John, wife Lorrie; daughter Nina, husband Greg; grandchildren Jimmy & Kristen, son Salvatore, wife Debra; grandchildren Samantha and Ross.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Josephine Pizzuti and her beloved brother Nino Pizzuti.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Alzheimer’s Association . The Alzheimer’s Association has set up a personal web page in Mary Ann’s name to leave tributes and possible donations.
