Richard Samuel Napolitano
Richard Samuel Napolitano was born on August 9, 1928 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2012, surrounded by family members and close friends, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Richard was born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands. After serving four years during the Korean War in the United States Navy, he met and married Virginia Tholl of Riverside, California. Ultimately settling in Riverside, he worked as an industrial engineer for Bourns, Inc., from 1955-1963. After having moved to the midwest for 12 years, he returned to Bourns’ Riverside plant. From 1981 until he retired in 1995, he was self-employed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia, and his five children: Steve Napolitano of San Diego, Chris (Sandi) Napolitano of Minneapolis, MN, Lisa (Lee) Cobb of Ft. Myers, FL, Lori (Travis) McElyea of Riverside, and Diane (Mike) Dake of Riverside.
He is also survived by two sisters, eight grandchildren and one great-grand-child.
His family would also like to acknowledge and thank their close personal friends Kelly, Christine and Meghan Bristol for their love and support. Richard and his wife attended Calvary Foursquare Church in Hemet. He had many hobbies, some of which included golf, fishing, bicycling and numerous other sports and activities. He will always be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband and loving father, who enjoyed life to its fullest.
Memorial services are scheduled for Monday, April 16 at 11:30 am at Pierce Bros. Crestlawn Chapel followed by a graveside service at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
