Lawrence "Larry" Romo Gomez

lawrencegomez.jpgLawrence “Larry” Romo Gomez of Lakeview, California (originally from San Pedro) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 7, 2012. He was surrounded by his family and many, many good friends after a long battle with cancer, he was 66 years old. He was born October 28, 1945 to Elias and Dolores Gomez of San Pedro.

Larry put up a fight that lasted 16 years, when most could not last 12 roundsand he WON! He touched many people’s lives and gave them hope. He was an inspiration to those who knew his story, he showed them there was more to live for.

Larry was a proud grandpa and enjoyed spending all his precious time watching ball games, going to school functions, birthdays and anything that involved his grandchildren and family. His corny jokes were funnier than your best, because he told it.

He may have been a friend, uncle, brother, neighbor, or just the guy that makes you smile at the store, that’s just who he was. Larry had such a huge heart and will be missed by everyone he knew.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Gloria of Lakeview. Larry and Gloria were childhood sweethearts and just celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary.

Larry also leaves behind 5 children: Rene Mesropian, Matthew (Shannon) Gomez, Lisa Ann (Steve) Serna, Gregg (Sadie) Gomez and Jason Gomez. Grandchildren: Chris (Zulma), Joseph, Bryan, Jacob, Stevie, Alyssa (Johnny), Joey (Kirsten), Daniel, Gabriel, Raquel, Giselle, Patrick and Sam, great grandchildren: James, Jared and Baby Faith Lauren.

Larry also leaves behind his mother Dolores, two brothers, Elias and Steve Gomez, a sister, Lydia Gonzalez including their families, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins aunts, uncles including a very special person, “Uncle Mickey”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Gomez and his sister, Patricia Perez.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 9-10am with services at 10am, both at Miller Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd, Sun City, CA. Interment to follow at Menifee Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Larry’s life at Manny and Stella Serna’s home in Lakeview, California. Please keep Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers. “Steve, I’ll be ready when you get here”!
